I have tried 7.7gr. Unique and the first 3 went almost in one hole at 25 yds. I put the gun down, checked the target, and fired 2 more. These 2 rds. opened the group to a pattern of 4 inches. Correction, correction! I am using 4350, not 4831. I should learn to read better. Velocity with the IMR4350 is 2340fps.

I have used that powder in the 348, but 58.0 gr.. I like it. I would check that powder charge again just to make sure that is correct. It sounds a little much to me.

7.62, that's a ninja philosophy. Do whatever it takes to win. If the object is to hit, do what you can do to hit. I just hope we can remain a country of riflemen, and not bipod shooters.

Chuck, you're right; however, after the load development, start the real shooting. When I found the right load for my .270, I started shooting from sitting at 200 yds. My first groups were 9". Not very encouraging. But within 2 months, at the rate of 30 rds a week, I was shooting 4" groups...

I have used that left shoulder carry, and it is a good method. I ain't no Herb Parsons, but the sling will help. A carry sling with a wrap on my CZ or Rem. 541 .22 will decrease my groups 1/2 to 3/4 MOA from sitting (obviously unsupported, that is, real shooting).

Had a 99 made in 1920 with a 1/14 twist. It shot all makes of bullets from 60-100 grains. I shot a 7/8" group with factory Win. 100gr. OPE(open point expanding) ammo. Everything else was usually 1 1/4" at 100 yds.

I will use the easy way if I have to, that is pressured by time to cure. I split 2 1/2 cds. the year before the old fashioned way, with an ax, wedge, and maul. I thank God I can still do it if I have enough Aleve. I am only 65 but my shoulder talks to me a lot when I do such.

I used to pick up occasional boxes of 30/30 ammo for $5 to $9 box at the gun shows, same with 35 rem., but you don't see it anymore. I'm glad for the dozen or so boxes I now have.

Pete, that's a nice gun. Lots of opinions of engraving on guns. I like the idea of blued steel being the canvas for a tasteful piece of art. I also like the smell of Bullseye in the morning. Keep those pics coming. Sig makes a great gun, but my heart is with the 1911.

Ammo situation here in Texas is better. Academy in Tyler Texas has 9mm, 223, available without restrictions. 9mm is $15 for a box of 50. 22's have loosened a bit. You can buy them but with a 2 box limit.
