The Henry's definitely showing less wear than my loading thumb. :) That knurled mag trombone end is tough on skin. Keep thinking I'm gonna HAVE to clean the gun at some point, but not yet. Staying clean under the extractor, zero extraction failures. Roughly 13,500 rounds in & still going strong....
Yeah, been wearing a Camelback glove on the shooting hand since early on when the frame was getting too hot to comfortably hold & I was building up blisters on that hand from working the lever. :) Same basic idea. Most of the shooting is Modified Chuck Connors Style, with the buttstock anchored ...
Considering the hi-speed hi-volume automated rimfire manufacturing process used nowdays, I'm not surprised to find a few duds along the way. 7000 rounds of bulk ammo, I'd expect some glitches in product. :) Part of the test, besides parts wear, is also finish wear. The "gold" color isn't a...
Two cases down.
So far, the ammo's more erratic in QC than the gun.
Three or four bent rounds, half a dozen empty cases, 8 or 9 misfires, 4 or 5 of those that wouldn't light up on second strike in place or rotated position.

I'll update periodically. Another thousand last night. Have not added up the total so far, when I finish the second case I'll advise. Looking like 1000 is a practical limit for me and the gun at each session. Takes about 90 minutes, maybe a little less. It gets too hot much beyond that and my hands ...
Another 1600 through it tonight. For the first time, the receiver actually got uncomfortably hot to hold with a bare hand. I'm learning the gun will tell me when it needs lube. When I start to get high-nose misfeeds on chambering, it's time to squirt some aerosol Break Free into the port. After whic...
Another 666 through it tonight. Got a nice blister on one hand & burned the other again. :) Gonna have to start using a glove with the lever. 333 rounds short of finishing off the first case. It pays to have friends in low places on the ammo. The 20,000 is Winchester 333 white box. The other thr...
The major impetus behind this endurance run is to see just how well the Golden Boy does hold up. There are so many Internet references to "cheap pot metal guns" that I got curious & decided to settle the matter. I've worked with several Henry leverguns of all sizes for over 15 years no...
It does get tedious, load & shoot, load & shoot, load & shoot, mostly from the hip. There's a formerly two-foot high weedbush that undoubtedly hates the sight of the Blazer approaching. Down to one foot now. Been working on my Chuck Connors technique, but can't quite pull off his speed. ...
I don't know which specific bullet the guy was using, commentary from Kate (wife of SASS #1) & a couple others the day after was just that it was a lead bullet, within SASS-required velocity ranges, and the shooter thought he was OK with it being wide-nosed enough. Said shooter had re-evaluated ...
In the incident I referred to, the detonation was in the magazine & blew out the mag, injuring the shooters fore-arm. The rifle, according to a couple people there when it happened, was considered shootable/repairable by replacing the magazine. No damage to the frame or internals. That's where I...
In the CAS event I mentioned, if a low-velocity (low-recoil) lead bullet could ignite a primer and blow the magazine, I see no reason why a standard velocity bullet with enough of a point could do the same, IF everything happened to line up just wrong. Kinda like the empty chamber issue on a Peacema...
It is no myth, and their methodology proves nothing. Back during Bubbles' CAS days we arrived at a regional in Wyoming the day after an experienced shooter had blown up his levergun magazine, sending him to the hospital for treatment of his arm injuries. He thought his LEAD bullet noses were suffici...
Now shipping, if interested.
Long wait.
If you've got the Ruger-revised firing pin in a recent version of either gun they're highly recommended for positive ignition.
Hope so too.
Same editor, I'm back (whether that's a positive or a negative...), and I don't know the whole line-up, but I imagine you'll see other familiar names.

Not as far as I know. I think I mentioned in an earlier post that the attorney handling the Harris liquidation listed approx. 50,000 subscribers as "debts" that they intended to repay, as I recall. Dunno how, or when. Harris's lock, stock, and office furniture, were all transferred to an a...
There's also a Kindle eBook on the Henry-Browning .22 shoot-out, and one on a dueling pistol from Dixie Gun Works.
And one on a '60 Army percussion super-tuned by Goon's Gun Works.
