Re: Bi Metal bullets
I feed my Kalashnikovs with steel ammo and enjoy it, but there appears to be very little doubt left that steel jacketed bullets wear a steel bore faster than copper or copper alloys. A pretty darned good test run here: http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/brass-vs-steel-cased-ammo/ I know one guy who doe...

Re: want semi auto but like my 30-30
Possibly doable. There are several Kalashnikov (AK type) rifles chambered for 7.62x54R. I suspect that a quality AK smith like Krebs might be able to convert one to .30-30 Win. Alternately, I note that 300 Win Short Magnum has a rim diameter just a half a millimeter more than the .30-30, so perhaps ...

Re: mini mauser 7.62 precision
I love that round in an AR, but a bolt gun? Why? The Kimber lightweight and some other excellent bolt guns actually weigh LESS than the "mini-Mauser", so unless one is interested in cheap 7.62x39 ammo what's the point? This rifle in 7mm-08 or .257 Bob interests me more than a Yugo in 6.5 G...

Re: Bought a new loading press..
I wont say anything bad about that press since I've not used it and as with all things Lee there sure seems to be a lot of people who like their gear. I am not one of them, so I will say something good about this press here while wishing you well with yours: http://www.redding-reloading.com/online-c...

Lithium AA batteries and a trail cam that boasts of good battery life: http://www.energizer.com/batteries/performance-lithium/ultimate-lithium/Pages/aa.aspx http://browningtrailcameras.com/our-products/trail-cameras/spec-ops-series/ The higher end Moultrie units are nice as well (that's what I use)....

Re: This is cheating
Might have said the same thing about a telescopic sight 60 years ago. And how is it worse than a PH whispering a firing solution into a city slicker's ear on the sticks? It's not like that system hauls you up the side of the mountain to where the rams are. Some day the technology will be commonplace...

Or in other words an AK, because that's exactly what it is and everyone will know what you mean.Mescalero wrote:An Avtomat Kalishnikov without the full auto parts.

Re: Wow! Seriously ???
I didn't watch the video, but from comments I would guess that my meat harvest style is out of style. In Alaska I passed up rutty bucks because I can't eat antlers, or hormone swollen meat. I often waited for the snow to herd up the animals on the beaches, where a high percentage starve to death in...

Re: 7.62 precision
Yes, I've used it. It works particularly well on Garand gas cylinders, and I've tried it on some stainless hardware that I wanted blackened. The flats of the slide could be dulled with a scotch green pad, which I use on brushed stainless guns to to remove scratches with good effect, or by flat sandi...

This stuff works well on some types of stainless:
