Re: Winchester 94 Question
I like a fairly light trigger as well, but I consider this one unsafe. It takes little more than a touch of the finger to release it. Also, a sharp slap on the butt of the gun will cause the hammer to release. This is certainly not a good thing. It's funny, but the best trigger action on any of my 7...

Winchester 94 Question
I have a Winchester model 94 made in 1971. It is an exceptionally accurate rifle and I have ended the reign of many ild pigs on my farm with it. The only problem with it is that the trigger pull is extremely light. i have been asked by others to allow them to shoot it but I am reluctant to do so bec...

Re: What Has Been Done to This Gun?
Thanks for the replies, fellows. So, given what you see, what would be a reasonable offer for this gun assuming it was to be reblued and used as a shooter? Would it be better not to reblue or does it really matter at this point? Also, is it possible to load .44-40 loads with smokeless powder that ar...

What Has Been Done to This Gun?
What would have been done to this gun to get it this clean? It is almost as if it is nickle plated, or Stainless Steel. How would it have been cleaned like this? Has this cleaning destroyed its value to collectors? In all other respects it is in extremely nice condition with a strong very lightly fr...

Re: Loading Gate on Winchester 94
Thanks very much for the replies, friends. I rubbed my finger along the inside edge of the front of the loading gate with the action opened and you are right - it is as prickly as a cactus. I am going to take it down tomorrow and work on those burrs. I am sure that will fix my problem. I should have...

Loading Gate on Winchester 94
I have a 1971 Winchester 94 .44 Magnum. When I load cartridges in it if I push a cartridge all the way past the front of the loading gate it will snap back past the front of the loading gate when it closes and block the gate from opening. I have to leave each cartridge partially sticking out of the ...

I have a pre-Remington Marlin XLR w/ 24" barrel that and Zeiss Conquest scope. I shoot hand-loaded .30-30 rounds with Hornady FTX 160 grain bullets. I have not hunted deer with any other gun in the last 5 years, and I always have plenty of deer meat in the freezer! I am as good with this gun as...

Pete44ru, I like the way you think!Pete44ru wrote:.
The cost is only green paper, which I've somehow always been able to find more of, sooner or later; the rifle's the real deal, and always worth more than some crappy, quickly-devaluating dried & stamped green pulp.

Are There Any REAL Gunsmiths Left?
I have a Winchester 94 in .44 Magnum that was manufactured in 1971. It is one of my favorite rifles and I carry it with me to my farm regularly. Recently it has developed a problem. When I cycle the action I will occasionally have a cartridge release and go under the lifter. This causes a jam and I ...

Problem with my 1971 Winchester Model 94
I have a 1971 Winchester Model 94 in .44 Magnum that I am have a problem with. Occasionally when I work the action to eject a fired cartridge and load another the next cartridge in the magazine will pop out underneath the lifter so that I have a cartridge on the lifter ready to be chambered and a ca...
