The number 4 was last cataloged in 1943 according to the book "Old Gunsights". There should be an application code on the underside of the sight, the book lists the codes meanings. What gun is your sight mounted on???

Just read a description of an 1873 antique for sale on gunbroker, the seller states "No California Sales". I am curious, what is the law out there on the left coast? Are you guys not allowed to have antique guns shipped to you????

Sixgun...I just sold a Colt lightning rifle in 32-20, but it didnt have set triggers. i love those rifles though. The only people that know how many I have are close friends. I don't go around spreading the info I too try to keep my gun profile low, but during lunch breaks where I work I am often making little things for my hobbies...gun parts included. Dont reload the balloon head cases! They are weaker, and on top of that, mercury was in the priming compound back then, this made the cases brittle for reloading. C Cash, yes the taper is different..but nothing a sizing die could not take out (heck...45-70 is straight and it gets reformed into 33 WCF). Diameter at shoulder of 33 WCF is about .440", the russian round is .460" or about 0.010"/side. Ben, I get .058 on my Russian cases, .065" ...

Here is a photo of the thingie that holds the lever closed. I read this idea several years ago and the authors were insistant that a water based solvent be used to wash away the salts that would be deposited in the barrel, as well...
