Garbage - I agree.
And his store is not impressive. WAY overpriced and good luck getting anyone to help you.

Re: Best Meal Ever Shot With Your Levergun
Perhaps it shows my age or at the very least the number of years I've been hunting. The best meal I've shot with my levergun is Tag Soup.
Have yet to score a kill with it yet. However, I aim to hike into some DEEP timber this fall to roust me up a spike elk. Should be plenty delicious.

Re: Tell me,do ya prefer living in mountains /flat lands /swamps
I'm partial to HIGH mountains and the lakes therein, such as the Uinta Mountains of Utah. Something extremely soothing about living among the pines and quakies that only see people 2-3 months out of any year. 10,000+ feet above sea level is where I'd love to have a permanent dwelling, if I could swi...

Re: .357 Magnum Hunting... Being Laughed At :(
My son and I recently completed a little science project. We shot several cartridges at some 2 liter bottles to see how deeply they would penetrate. Yada, yada, we've all done this before. Final result was this: .357 Magnum 180 grain Hornady XTP - 20" of water and the bullet was perfectly expan...

I have called them before on loading discontinued rounds and I spoke to a ballistics guy within 30 seconds who gave me some great recipes. They should have the data, no problemo.

Re: Current Marlin quality: Your experiences?
In February 2006 I purchased an 1895 which would not eject any rounds. They would chamber just fine but there was a problem with the little ejector/extractor. I sent it back to Marlin and had a perfectly functioning rifle back to me in 2 weeks. My suspicion was that this rifle was abused in the stor...

Even down to the shoulder strap, that thing looks EXACTLY like my 1895 setup. Awesome!

I'll agree that $600 is pretty high for that rifle. Whittle them down to $400 and they'll have themselves a deal.

Re: Winchester 94 Wrangler, 16" barrel .44Magnum
The 2 best groups in my 94 came with H110 and the 240 grain Hornady XTP and H110 with a 250 grain Partition. Open sights at 100 yards can be whittled to about 1.5" if I do my part and take my time. Sorry it's not much help.

Re: barrel porting
The ports on my 300 Weatherby turned it from Der Loudenboomer Ouchencauser to something as comfortable as a .243 Winchester. Reduced the recoil by around 50%.

Re: What is your favorite Cartridge - lever gun
My 45/70 is great fun, but the one that gives folks the biggest smile and most satisfaction is the 1894 AE chambered for .44 Magnum. Hoots and hollers all around.

I took a group of 11-year old scouts up to Trial Lake in the Uinta Mountains of Utah over the weekend. We fished at the Lake until our fingers were frozen and drove home in a blizzard. Elevation: 9,825 feet. NICE!!!

Re: Did your 45-70 cut your head?
I made sure to shoot my 1895 plenty before I scoped it. Had to get used to the recoil.
But every single person who has shot my scoped 1895 has walked away with either a red mark over their eye or full-on scope eyebrow. Even with all my warnings and teaching, they all get thunked. Sorry guys.

Re: .45-70 Bullets for Heavily Armored Deer - or Bear
I'd love to see how the 300 grain Nosler Partitions (2200 fps) stack up against those solids, what with Nosler sort of being the industry standard for so long.
I can send you 5 cardtridges, but am wondering if this is limited to solids only?
