But is the barrel mis indexed, or is the front sight slot cut at an angle...IE: does the rear sight slot match the front? And one other thing, you are holding the gun in the least accurate position for determining this. It very likely that your mag tube is off center slightly and tilting the gun one...

Kansas Ed, How did the part break? Was it through normal usage (eg. firing the rifle using the set trigger function)? I own a 73 with the set trigger function and it works fine. The SST version is very delicate. The weak spot seems to be where the adjustment screw goes through the trigger itself. The hole for the screw is drilled very close to the end point which weakens the assy. and will break off the set activation feature. It doesn't affect using the trigger in the norm...

While I love my Delta, the 10mm requires a 22lb recoil spring. That's almost double the spring tension of the 40. I can see why the FBI ditched them, try getting one cleared when you are weak in one arm/hand....it's pretty impossible to do within a decent amount of time. So IMO the 40 is a much bett...

My Redding 405 dies work just fine. There is only .003 difference at the case mouth...other than that and the rim thickness, the cartridges are identical. Just my opinion, but I wouldn't let the Bertram be an issue. After reading above about the .010 headspace I measured mine, and yep they are spec. shy by .010....BUT....RCBS recommended their form dies for the .405 Winchester brass years ago forming from IIRC 9.3 Brass which gave around .017 headspac...

Years ago I had a string of misfires with some CCI std Small Rifle primers. Either they were a faulty batch (not likely) or they misfired because I was picking them up and loading them singly in a ram on the press. So I would be aware that handling primers likely can cause issues from my experience....

I took a tour in the early '90's when they ran a special run in 454 to go with a cased set with a FA revolver. They have a nice setup there. Nothing fancy, just good old fashioned craftsmanship. I really enjoyed seeing their setup. They are a class act all the way around.
