Re: shooting plain based hard casts with IMR 3031 in a Win94
Tried it with w748 and softer bullets, about 14 15 bhn. Not good. Accuracy prooved poor when trying lower powder charges to keep below the point of leading. Your bullet bhn would probably need a full charge of powder to obturate it, and you would end up with excessive velocity that would cause leadi...

I still dont see winchester primers or winchester 22 ammo anywhere. Been a long time. Remington 45-70 bullets hard to find as well. The cases will come back after firing a couple of times. I have found a loss of accuracy with almost all brass and calibers after annealing. The first reload of the case usually gives me larger group size, until the case hardens up a little and neck tension returns again. The trick is to not over an...

You can sell your gold at a coin and precious metal dealer, or numismatic coin dealer. American eagles should net you $1650 right now. No tax is due, as Eagles are still legal tender currency.

I would call winchester and find out what ammo they tested the gun with at the repair facility. Tell then you were using fiocchi. I tried to find a picture online of the 140 grain ammo, but could only find 142grain pointy ammo. Maybe thats the problem.

Hi Joe,
I set the 405 rem bullet to the correct COL. With the 405 grain rem's, that would be the step towards the nose of the bullet. I just put a light crimp just above it. With a fully loaded magazine and near max loads, the bullets stay put.

Re: More question on big bore 307 conversion
Handirifle, I think marc has the answer to your problem. The cartridge stop may well be your problem. The cartridge diameter for both the 30/30 and 375 is close to the same diameter, measured to the 30/30 shoulder length. The 375 a little less maybe. The 307 at the shoulder is around 0.050'' larger ...

Swab the bore with hoppes and leave it for an hour. Then brush and wait for 1/2 hour, then push a couple of patches through. Reapply hoppes and wait anther hour followed by a clean patch. If it comes out clean then that should be it. That all I ever do, and every barrel seems to clean up good.
