Re: How History Is Forgotten
. One of my kids was born on Pearl Harbor Day, so our family has a built-in reminder, even though only a couple are alive who were alive at the time. Not that many of 'us' are around who remember the Challenger Explosion, for that matter. Think of it - the same is true for a huge part of the popula...

When I arrived at church this morning the flag was at full staff. I promptly (and correctly) lowered it to half staff.
It was indeed way to quiet on the topic today. We should never forget.

THat looks like a crack that was there and possibly repaired many years ago. Still hurts to look at though. Bingo! I bought it last year (or the year before) at a gun show. Was looking for a functional hammered antique double barrel. Something to hang in my office, not get used, but capable of bein...

Re: Die Hard is a Christmas movie!!
THE ABSOLUTE BEST Christmas story is 2000 years old. There are books and movies about it. Some are good and some are not so good. There is preaching about. Again, some ain't so good and some is great. And there are lots of versions of it according to the customs and traditions of the place they are...

I'm trying to decide now what to do with decades of old gun magazine. When I was in college I discovered a stash of my Dad's old NRA "American Rifleman" magazines from the 60's. I read those instead of my textbooks, and thoroughly enjoyed them. it was a look into the not-too-distant past. ...

Both of my grandparents on my Dad's side were born in 1897. My grandfather died of cancer a few years before I was born, but I got into my early teens before my Dad's mom passed away. We shared a birthdate, which was always fun. I was fortunate to know my maternal grandparents very well. My grandfat...

That's funny, in an annoying kind of way. On the one hand I can see why they are doing so - the next generous (not all but a significant number) gets everything online.
