There's actually 3 screws that are missing....new models have pins. :D...also, pop the grips off and make sure someone didn't switch grip frames...it was common for guys with XR3 guns to put a cheap XR3-RED grip frame on it and sell the much more expensive original grip frame.....I have those varnis...

It's not so much as the barrel steel...I've never heard of a 32-20 rifle blowing up in the chamber......it's the nature of the beast...a levergun has "spring" in the action unlike a solid bolt action or single shot......if you don't believe me take ANY 1892 in 44-40 and load some of those crazy load...
