The only thing you would lose from the "chip" is what it has "learned" from your driving habits. Yes, it does that, its in your manual Blaine. Otherwise it will instantly read the sensors on startup and begin managing the engine perfectly in real time.

I would place Hodgdon and Hornady a lot higher on the food chain with a lot more experience with powders and pressures since one is a leading powder manufacturer, and one is a leading premium ammunition manufacturer. Lyman is neither.

And there are small and cheap ammeters which tell how many amperes are being put out by your alternator. Low voltage or low amperage either one will cause a battery to go dead and the idiot lights may not warn you. We have AutoZone auto parts around here and they will check your battery and chargin...

Gunny has a good suggestion, check your fuses, all of them, it could lead you to the problem. Relays are another problem child. If it has a cap and rotor and got water in it, the WD40 suggestion is spot on, I never went anywhere off roading without it.

I'm starting to recall some things about the .450. The barrel had a different style of thread with a flat profile instead of a sharp edge to limit thread depth. I was wondering about the mag tube myself.

The item that really stands out in that article is the SAAMI pressure 43,500 psi for the .450 Marlin, which as far as I know has only ever been chambered in a 1895. I broke the pin in a couple die sets, so I use a de-capping die and the handpress for just that purpose. No more broken pins... FWIW, I loaded 100 45-70s with the hand press, and dippers and they shot just as good as the ones I do on the real press, and powder measure/scales.... The most consistent...

The Marlin is not as strong as the Winchester 1886, however it is much stronger than almost any other rifle in 45-70 barring the single shots, and can be safely loaded much hotter than cowboy level, many reloading manuals have a Marlin 1895 level in their 45-70 section and it is significantly hotter...

Those are all valid points Grizz, however I wouldn't buy another .480 for several reasons. Ruger stopped making them. It's a handload option only, WalMart does not sell .480 nor does anyone else I know of, I'm not even sure Hornady still loads for it. I would choose the .44 mag for all those reasons...

My woods gun is a G20 10mm loaded with buffalo bore 180 gr doing 1350 fps/728 fpe x 15+1. That is a lot of horsepower in a small, light, reliable package.
