Re: If You Were Going On A Hog Hunt
I set up this BLR in .308 with a green light for hog hunting last year. I have no doubt I can kill a hog out to probably 100 yds on a dark night with this rig, but you have to see a hog before you can shoot it, and I didn't have much luck on that trip to Texas.

No much, I guess. if you can hunt, and you have time and patience and good luck and maybe a little experience. But some of us might want more. I haven't needed anything for many years. But I seem to want things anyway.

On singleaction grips, I have found that I get the most satisfaction with Sandbar Stag grips with a fair amount of bark on them, because they allow some braking of the roll on the pistol during recoil, but still allow the harder kickers to roll some. The only down side I run into is top quality Sand...

You can't judge bullet performance by only one instance. As long as you make the same type of shot, you should be good. If you had used a heavier soft nose bullet you would probably had had a pass through, but possibly not as much damage and the deer might have went a little farther before dropping ...

I got the 20 inch mostly because I like the balance better then the 24 inch rifle, and I couldn't see the sights as well on the shorter carbines then 20", mostly because the front sight filled up the rear notch too tightly in 16 inch versions I looked at. Mine is a Cimarron by Uberti.
