Re: What is actually a GOOD 'Brush Gun'...?
7pt Nov 2016.JPG I have killed more deer in the brush with a .270 or .308 than about anything but then again, I have used them more than other calibers. The OP mentioned Brush gun, not Brush Caliber. So, here's my take. At super close range (and I do mean Close with a capitol C) on moving or chargi...

I killed this one yesterday with my Browning BLR .308 I shot a hog with it, a few weeks ago, also. I wanted to kill a hog with my Mod 71 Win but it just didn't work out. I have had the BLR for about 27 years now. I have a lot of other leveractions, and other guns, but the BLR has been my bread and b...

Re: Bolt action caliber for North American hunting
If money is no object, then I want a nice custom Mauser action in a beautiful wood stock, and in 30-06, because I love blued steel and Walnut, and the 06 ammo can still be found most every where, just in case, my favorite loads get lost, etc. But if it was in .308 I would be just as happy.

I would just be sure and vet whoever works on your gun, if you go that direction. Well, it depends somewhat on the iron sights chosen, because a really good set can cost as much as a low end scope, and that still doesn't cover the cost of drilling and tapping the rifle if needed or some front sights get sweated on and some require a dovetail to be cut in the barrel, for either th...

Marlin 39 in .22 mag? and does someone still make blank fill
I found a used Marlin 39 leveraction, probably 15yrs old or so, in .22 mag for sale. It's a straight grip model. It's fairly expensive, on par with the Winchester model 94 22mags in price. I am considering buying it, but I was wondering: 1. Does anyone here have one and how well does it shoot? 2. Do...

If I didn't already have 4 lightweight Commanders and a 3" Kimber to compliment my 5 inch guns, I might consider it, if I did have the money for a Colt or Springfield. However, I have considered a Shield in 9mm, but I don't know, I don't need one, that's for sure.

Re: FBI returns to the 9mm
I believe that the real reason is that the 40 is harder to shoot then the 9mm. It a little more snappy in the recoil dept. And the 9 holds more ammo in the mags. And practice ammo is probably cheaper. And modern, top tier, 9mm self-defense ammo has come a long way, and the 9 is more effective then i...

If you could use a reamer to remove the bulk of the material and then switch to a flex hone and hone until just a hint of spiral remained, I think that would still be considered rifling and therefore legal.
