Dogngun: "I don't see a need for improvements". Good on you for not following the herd and automatically ordering all the stuff you need to make it work right according to some of the pundits. I'm afraid I did that and ended up with a .44 rifle that barely ejects and then only when really...

Re: Savage Arms Comes Through
Some people still look down on Savage, but I have been shooting various Savage rifles for decades, and have not found more accurate centerfire rifles made here in the US. The company constantly improves their products-really improves them, not making changes for the sake of changes, and their custom...

Greetings Individuals buy items for all sorts of reasons, then discover there are all sorts of reasons to sell. About 8 years ago an ILLinois State Police officer purchased a S&W snubby .357 mag at a police supply store. Took it to the back range and fired 10 rounds of 125 grain ammo . Took the...

My old Savage .30-06. I bought a very used model 110 that w probably made in the 1970's...Dirt cheap, because someone had painted the wood flat black. I stripped and oil finished it, and found it was about the most accurate bolt rifle I have ever owned...till now. It was very plain and made for low ...

Got it. The quality is much improved over the old Puma I once had, and I don't see a need for improvements. Trigger is very good, laver needs a few hundred cycles, loading gate is pretty easy. Wood, finish and fit is first rate. I really like the buckhorn rear sight -it is also improved over the old...

A sporterized long before I got it-probably in the 1960'- Spanish 98 Mauser action, with a new US commercial sporter barrel in .308 Win. Has a jeweled bolt, bent for a scope. I put in a TImney sportsmen trigger and an old Redfield 2x7 scope on steel mounts, put it all in a plastic stock of some sort...

About 15 years ago, I bought a used SAA in .44 magnum, made by Sauer & Shon in Germany in teh 1970's. I have had several of these-I like them a lot. I eventually sold it, saw it again a few years ago, in a different shop, with a broken ejector rod. I bought it - cheap- and installed a Ruger rod ...

My understanding on the J.C. Higgins Model 54 is this...they are pre-64 Winchester Model 94's stamped with the Seart "J.C. Higgins" brand name and a serisl number series all their own...which no one knows. The Higgins Model 54 was discontinued in the late 1950's or early 1960's, and the le...

The one I had was an old Puma with a big lever, which I was not crazy about and it was used when I bought it about 10 years ago...but it functioned just fine with .38's as well as magnums, and it was a good, handy size and an accurate rifle...I'm already saving and will probably start shopping in a ...

I just saw a bunch of various used Win '94's, some actual old collectors and some newer shooters...the shooters under $300, and my bell is ringing...I might just put one on layaway...they had a Ranger version with the slightly longer barrel that looked interesting to me.

I have owned and shot a trapdoor, and front-loading black powder arms, both revolvers and rifles.
