I'm going to have Steve Young do some work on a 480 Ruger Puma 92. One idea I am toying with is having the 20" barrel cut to 16.25". Do you ever wish your Trapper was a full size carbine? For pistol cartridges are you losing much in velocity with a 16" vs 20" barrel?

The only thing I would add to what Modoc ED wrote about the Barnes TSX is that the newer MRX bullets with their Silvex (Tungsten) core might be a better penetrator. They are like a tungsten solid with an expanding nose.

Sam Fadala used to pull 190 gr Silvertips from 303 Savage ammo and load them in the 30-30 AI. Now you can get the equivalent of that bullet from Hawk Bullets. So if you were looking for a cartridge with a little more poop and a bigger bullet I think that would be the way to go.

In realistic terms how much more powerful is it than the 450M or hot 45-70? Is your shoulder the limiting factor? I believe a steady diet of any of the 3 would cause your shoulder to give out before the gun did.

To get back to my original question, regarding the addition of a recoil pad to the pistol stock? Somehow we got from adding a recoil pad to adding a rifle buttstock. I tried ordering one from Davidsons and the computer said it was not for sale in my area, CA. So the point is moot, at least for me.
