Single shot and bolt action .410's are plentiful and cheep.
45/70's and .444's could easily be loaded with felt wads and shot.

.41 magnum kind of annoys me. I just don't see the reason for it. I believe that forty grains is the recommended maximum but, I get much better accuracy with 35 grains.

My Crosman 760 sets in the garage for months at a time. Whether I leave it charged or not, every time I pick it up the pump arm is limp. A drop of Crosman oil and a few minutes of mad pumping warms up the seals and gets it working again.

On the #4 rifle head space issues can be taken care of by changing bolt heads.

Files are cutting tools not abrasives. They cut in only one direction and should not be dragged back across the material. Files should not touch each other because files dull files just as diamonds cut diamonds.

I have two smooth rifles, a .56 TC Renegade and a .62 Green Mountain barrel in a TC stock.
Using Dutch Schultz method they both shot one hole groups at 25 yards.
I am anxious to get back to the range to try some 50 and 100 yard targets.

Most animals can be put down instantly by taking them from the side and putting the bullet half way between the eye and the ear opening.
This is especially true for putting down a dog.
