I retired last November @ age 49. I can not express enough that you need to plan and invest. I did and it is working out just right. Actually, I don't know how I ever had the time to work. I stay plenty busy doing the things I want to and I seem to be pretty productive right now. Yesterday I got up,...

Leverdude, Thanks for that information. I honestly had not thought of or noticed that a ladder sight would lack elevation adjustment in the down position. That kinda kills my desire for one because I will be reloading for this rifle and want some elevation options. I got to shoot five rounds through...

Ladder Sight Questions - Update Marlin 308 Problem
I just purchased my first Marlin lever action. I have always gravitated towards the Winchesters, but this new Marlin 308MXLR has been calling to me. I just got it Saturday and have not had the chance to shoot it, but it does handle well and feels very good. The action is one of the best from the box...

Cutter, thanks for the assistance. This rifle needed a thorough cleaning very bad. It was not new when I got it. Getting the bolt out is a major pain. The part (brace?) that attaches to the bottom of the bolt is not easy to remove and it must be removed to get the bolt out. Chris, thanks for the inf...

Thanks for the information. I hope this one holds up as I kinda like the feel and action. How are the other brands holding up? I see that AWA, Beretta and US Firearms have a similar model, but I have never seen one in person. Cutter, I sure would like the instructions if we can work something out. D...

Griff, I have read Jeff's evaluation and just read the other. Thanks for the link. I shot it quite a bit today w/o any problems. The rounds were a little above normal, but not too hot. No problems and accuracy appeared to be OK. Shooting stumps, not paper. I was hoping someone had really put one of ...

OT - Lightning Pump Action Question
Well, as much as I hate to do an OT topic, I have one. I just traded into a Taurus Thunderbolt in 45 LC. I needed a short range 45 type round for some of the places I hunt. They are kinda thick woods and a little confidence in shooting into brush is my need. Not guess shots mind you, just something ...

Fellas, that gator with the deer picture has been floating around for awhile. I forget where it was taken, but it was not Florida. The second picture is also not from Florida. That is not one of our officers and is not our uniform. I believe it is from Alabama. The story was researched and the pictu...

Thanks fellas. I will pass this information on to him. It is a nice early 20's carbine that he picked up. Danged if he did'nt also just take in a 1873 38-40 rifle that is in the best condition I have ever seen. It has not been refinished or anything. He was going to clean up the patina and sand a pa...

303 Savage Brass
Does anyone have any leads on where some 303 Savage brass or rounds can be found? A friend (gunsmith) has come across a nice Savage in that cailber and wants to shoot/reload for it. Thanks in advance.

Well, I made it back home from the office. Man, it is hard leaving those you have worked with for so long, especially my staff. I pulled a slight trick to help me though. I had the wife come and get me rather than the traditional drive home by my replacement. I have done that and believe me that is ...

OT _ Retirement
Well, today is the day I retire. I have 28 years in law enforcement with 25 of those with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. I am 48 years old and have been a Regional Commander (Major) for the last five plus years. I go in this morning to the office and turn in all my equipment and uniforms ...
