Old Winchester Powder Question
I picked up some Winchester 296 powder today for reloading some .44 mag loads for my Marlin 1894. My question concerns the age of the powder or an attempt to age it. It came in the metal can - not the newer plastic cans. It had not been opened until I got it and as best as I can tell by smelling it,...

New Marlin 1894 Question
Fellas, I did another trade yesterday and ended up with a 2008 Marlin 1894 in .44 magnum. I have already taken it apart, cleaned it and got it sighted in today. First new gun in many years that I had to make absolutely no windage adjustment on the rear sight. Only had to drop the elevator one step t...

Re: Question for Marlin XLR owners
The MXLR came out when they introduced the new Leverevolution rounds. It is a matt stainless with 24" barrel and 2/3 rd's magazine with a laminated stock. The MX is blued w/ 22" barrel and 2/3 rd's magazine with walnut wood. Both are ballard rifling.

Re: Winchester 1895 Followed Me Home Today
Nath,
I am going to give it a chance. The idea of reboring or a new barrel is just a side thought if I don't like it. I have shot a lot of deer with a 30-06 and if the 270 performs anywhere like it, there will be no change. I suspect it will. The accuracy is there for sure.

I got to shoot the rifle this morning and I am impressed. The distance was only about 75 yards and after making the proper adjustments, I could keep a three shoot group almost touching. After a short ride in the woods this morning, I determined that the deer had moved most of the night due to the full moon. So, what else was there to do but go to a gun show a short ride away. Based on your proposed route, I assume you are going south from Jacksonville on I95 to the Miami area and then across the Alley and back up along I75. I have used the second one on a H&R Clasic 45-70. They do make for some accurate shooting and sight options, but they were no were near as fast to acquire/align as a blade or bead sight. I ended up putting the blade type insert in and leaving it there.
