Big sucker...! I didn't know Penn. had bears that got that big. I thought only Canada and AK did. Did you read any of the comments. Seems like this might have been a half tame bear that was being fed by locals. Your typical tree huggers are wishing death to the hunter. Some really messed up folks.

Haven't kept track, but wish I had. .270 Winchester (130+140gr bullets): 5 deer per year for 2 years. EVERY deer ran a minimum of 75 yards. 3 deer required follow up shots. 2 deer were never recovered, including 1 shot in the neck at 75 yards! I'm surprised by your .270 experience as well. I wonder if those people who think they will shoot out to 500 yards truly realize what the ballistics are for their caliber at that range. I doubt that many of them do. I recently went out and shot some loads in my 444 Marlin that I had on the shelf from 3-4 years ago. I noticed that there was a consistent 150-200 fps difference between now and the first time I shot them. I was wondering if anyone has experienced loads degrading over time.

Ammo can get kinda scarce this time of year. Midway is almost completely out of everything.
I reload mine, but something like this from Ammo To Go will work for just about anything you're going to need to kill.

Does it have a semi-hidden safety that might be on? Not to familiar with the rifle, but Marlins have a safety that can be overlooked sometimes which will not let the firing pin hit the primer. Don't some of those 92's have a safety up top where the peepsight ought to go?
