. The guy that got shot by his dog a day or so ago was the same kind of idiot. What possessed him to put his shotgun in the bed of his truck - WITHOUT THE SAFETY BEING ON - pointed towards the back, especially when there's a rambunctious dog flailing around wanting to get out of the truck? ). Why w...

About 5 years ago I bought a very used 39a made in 1967. I have since put over 25,000 rounds thru it and it has never stuttered. I think maybe the idea of a bad run of firing pins may be correct, I know several people who shoot theirs as much or more than I do and have never heard of a broken firing...

Thanks for posting that, a good lesson for us all!! I have SO FAR avoided this by charging all the cases with powder, checking them with a little flashlight, THEN seating the bullets. I am easily distracted and get out of sync every so often so I try to use a technique that will negate this as much ...

I have 4 rifles with Marbles tang sights and would not trade them for any other, they are a quality item. If these were hunting rifles, I would probably not want a tang sight, but rather a receiver sight. For silhouette, they are just the ticket. I have a Taurus Model 63 with the Taurus tang sight, ...

cast bullets in 336a
My friend and I both have Marlin 336A 30-30 rifles and shoot silhouette. We are having no end of difficulty finding the right combination with cast bullets. We have tried every conceivable combination of powder and two different cast bullets, they being a . 309 170 grain gas check and the .310 165 g...

I have a model 94 saddlering carbine in 25-35, has a lyman tang sight on it. Doesnt have hardly any finish left, has been rode pretty hard. I use it for prairie dogs with the 60 grain bullets, it really smokes 'em, anything this side of 125 yards is meat in the pan. I have some hotshot friends from ...

If you can consistantly hit a pop can offhand at 100 yards that is pretty good grouping. I agree with most of the others, shooting groups from the bench is a good thing when you are testing ammo or getting sight settings. Then, the groups you get when you stand on your hind legs and shoot like a man...

Usually, but you will ring a few. With the new rule on setting the rams at the topple point, as in IHMSA, you will probably do a lot better. I cant find that in my rule book, do you have page and paragraph? The only thing I can find is paragraph 3.1.3 (3) which says ammunition must be flat nosed suitable for tubular magazines which this bullet is, being a flat nosed design with a hollow point. I think maybe someone is picking a nit here....

Great day at the range with the 32-20
Took the new-to-me Marlin 1894cl 32-20 to the local monthly NRA-approved Lever Action Silhouette match today, first time out with this rifle. Load was 8.5 Grains Lil Gun and Hornady 85 grain hollowpoints. About a 10-12 knot headwind and 45 degrees. Shot a 34 x 40 with 10 rams so I am a happy camper,...
