Gents. I already knew this, and I sincerely hope I'm not offending any of the senior members here, but Ms. Dot has had her own health issues for a number of years, and it was John who was taking care of her I believe. Re: Setting up for 454
Well, if you say so, but I would advise the XTP Mag if it were me. I had very good results using Lil Gun and CCI BR4 primers. My chronograph results were much more consistent then Hornady factory 454 ammo. Velocity out of my 20" Puma was right about 2000 fps and my best friend's 16" barrel...

Scott, the cylinder looks funny on the Bisley. No flutes or factory laser engraving like my early one? Was the scrolling removed or maybe the cylinder replaced? Is it a 5 shot already perhaps? Mickbr, the Redding Profile die is one of only two dies I would use for heavy revolver loads like 454 Casull etc (the other being the Lee FCD of course). Not seen any problems with modern brass in 454 Casull and any reputable company should do like Starline or Hornady. Your powder choice is fine. Li...

My Rossi Puma in 454 has been a PITA since it arrived and modified by Mic McPherson years ago. Hopefully their metalurgy has improved, but mine is awaiting new locking bolts as the "heat treating" did not hold up at all and head space is screwed up. Mine is older however, but I doubt much ...

Re: Carrying a big sixgun.
i didn't read every post in its fullness, but it seems from the outset the 5 1/2 which is a traditional barrel length was left out of the conversation. I now have a 4 3/4th FA and my Ruger Bisley in 5 1/2. The Ruger at 5 1/2 is just a tad too long so I would say that the optimal length is 5 inches f...

Easiest and one I have probably done the most of is 454 Casull. Hardest is my 375 H&H AI seated extra long for my modified CZ rifle. The added 1/4 inch length, long bullets and longer COL with the 40 degree shoulder that occasionally collapses can be a problem. -Tutt

Bearskinner, I tend to agree. Few cartridges are so packable, can be loaded for high velocity, longer range work, or you can put a 360 grain or even about 400 grain bullet for the slower, heavy thump work. Hoping for an FA in my future in 2025! -Tutt
