One pound lighter is a lot! The HCAR is also very nice, but I can't afford one and not available here in Commiefornia. Seems like everyone needs just one semi-auto rifle in their collection and I don't have one yet. I would love the Browning Safari in 338 Winchester but they are not that easy or che...

Re: Took the Mosin to the Range today ....
Geeze Jim, with tolerances like that, maybe a smaller bullet and a sabot?? I can crunch some powder and pressure numbers in Quick Load if the cartridge is in its data base but some similar cartridges would come very close I suspect.

I played around years ago with PPing for my 11mm Mauser 71/84 but using a smokeless load. Buffalo Arms had all the stuff you could need like bullets and stencils and paper to make it as easy as possible. They weren't very accurate with my small Blue Dot load. Jim, from what I'm reading the Mosin probably has a faster twist rate than even my 303 Brit at 1:10 (Mosin 1:9.5 it looks like) It might be worth trying some of these for you, maybe: https://www.buffaloarms.com/314-diameter-205-grain-rngc-h-314299-314.html I thought I had some 215 grain bullets from...

I’ve actually never been able to hit anything with open sights where the target was smaller than the front sight. I don’t understand how people do that, whether with handgun or rifle. Doc, not sure here, but thinking 6 O'clock hold here is what is needed. A "center of mass" hold would not...

Tutt, My Winchester 1895 .405 WCF is happy (no high pressure} with 300 GR NF at 2250 fps (my fave load) and Woodleigh 400 grain Weldcore or solid ( I used both) . The latter load equals the well known 450/400 DR load of 400 grain Woodies at 2050 - 2100 fps. To minimize concern about peak chamber pr...
