One pound lighter is a lot! The HCAR is also very nice, but I can't afford one and not available here in Commiefornia. Seems like everyone needs just one semi-auto rifle in their collection and I don't have one yet. I would love the Browning Safari in 338 Winchester but they are not that easy or che...

Geeze Jim, with tolerances like that, maybe a smaller bullet and a sabot??  I can crunch some powder and pressure numbers in Quick Load if the cartridge is in its data base but some similar cartridges would come very close I suspect.

I played around years ago with PPing for my 11mm Mauser 71/84 but using a smokeless load. Jim, from what I'm reading the Mosin probably has a faster twist rate than even my 303 Brit at 1:10 (Mosin 1:9.5 it looks like) It might be worth trying some of these for you, maybe: https://www.buffaloarms.com/314-diameter-205-grain-rngc-h-314299-314.html I thought I had some 215 grain bullets from...

I’ve actually never been able to hit anything with open sights where the target was smaller than the front sight. I don’t understand how people do that, whether with handgun or rifle. Doc, not sure here, but thinking 6 O'clock hold here is what is needed. A "center of mass" hold would not...
