With regard ANY electric heater, the laws of physics cannot be cheated. I don't care if it's a simple "toaster" box or fancy at OMG prices, 1500 watts is all yer gonna get, and 1500 watts is gonna cost whatever that costs in your area. Remember, the OUTPUT of electric heaters that plug in...

As CO Steve says, the stainless/wet method is messier and it costs more to set up, unless you already have the rock tumbler.
But once you're set up, you're done with costs. That and no dust make it work for me.

Perry,
After reading about using stainless steel wires for wet tumbling of brass, I got rid of everything vibritory related. The wet system works so much better I can't even begin to say.
Of course like everything else it has it's down falls. Cost more to start up. But it sure does the job.

Joe, Firelapping removes metal. But it removes it very slowly, in a very easliy controlled fashion. It removes more metal at the start of the bore and removes progressivley less as it travels down the bore. Which is the ideal bore condition, a gentle taper from chamber to muzzle. Stainless laps slow...

You're right Joe, your inexperience has you all wrong. :) Firelapping does remove metal, don't say it like it's a bad thing. I would never leave any guns in a truck overnight that I wasn't willing to have disappear. Safe or not, if the truck is stolen they will get into it. All it takes is time and determination. And I would think that if a theif sees a safe, if he can he'll steal the truck to get into the safe.

But at 5 foot 7 it is pretty long to carry in the woods. Very easy for me to get the muzzle in the mud.

Joe,
CastBoolits has a member 'Buckshot' who will make you blank top punches that you then use the epoxy method on.
Some bullets work with a flat-faced punch and some don't. I've not been able to tell until I tried them.
