I mounted one of those Taurus tang sights from Able's on my H001 last weekend and I'm VERY happy with it too. I can hit golf balls at 50 yards now pretty easily. What a beauty! I've used lots of aperature sights before, but this is the first tang I've used. Because it works so well, I'm mounting a M...

That's about what I was thinking, even the mod to shorten the distance between the muzzle and barrel band with the sight behind the band. The rifle has all the other good stuff, non rebounding hammer, no cross bolt safety, original metal buttstock, straight eject, etc. I already have a williams aper...

Fixing up a '94.
I have a 1962 Winchester Model 94 in .30-30 that needs some TLC. At some point in time, the front sight fell off and some enterprising home gunsmith re-silver soldered the base back on WWWAAAYYY off kilter, so even if you put a blade in it, you can't even use it. Add to the bad soldering job that he...

RKrodle, Thank you so very much. It would be for the 160's with any type of Hodgdon powder. Actually all the 160 loads interest me. It sure looks a lot like my .260 remington, but you never know. The cases I have are Normas, and I'm not too sure about actual capacity, etc. so I wanted to go to actua...

OT - Need help with loading data
Anyone here have any loadata (preferably with Hodgdon's powder) for a 6.5 x 54?
Maybe it's just me, but it appears to be a slightly obscure cartidge?
I need to reload this cartidge, but lack of data.

It was 19F below when I left for work this morning. We had a spell in the winter of 93' to 94' from the last week of December to the second week of Feb it never got above 0 deg f in the daytime, and at night more often than not, it hit -40f, averaged about -30f at night. Never forget that year. I co...

Homefront, I'm just wondering how to tackle my .44 mag. hunter. The stainless will be a bit different. I might leave that one for awhile, because my hands fit completely on those, but I sure do like the round corners. Have to think on that one. I've never been too squeamish about tackling these thin...

Funny, I did exactly the same thing with (2) blackhawks that I had, a .357 and .41 mag. My hands are sort of smallish, and the corners of the stock grips and frame would bite my hands no matter how I held them, especially the .41 mag. So I did the same thing, but on the aluminum grip frames they hav...

Whoever it was said it depends on the model of rifle, I think was correct. My 1895CB prints a quite a bit higher with maximum range reloads than with lower velocity ones. I think in that case it is a combination of recoil and barrel length. So maybe the rules reverse themselves at a point of diminis...

The best day of the year
It’s the last week of December ’07, my Son, Daughter-in-law and three grandchildren are here for the annual Christmas visit. We have two late season doe tags to fill, and the venison supply is low. The grandsons are outdoors people, both fish a lot, and have been duck and rabbit hunting with the...

The .45-70 cowboy from the raffle trade up I told you guys about last week. What a thing of grace and beauty! Long and slender, like the legs on the prettiest woman you ever saw. Last year I bought a $5.00 raffle ticket from one of the guys at deer camp from his Conservation (hunting club) for various sundry prizes. I live in the upper part of the Lower Penninsula in MI. I live just NE of Grayling and have a 12 horse blower that I usually have to fire up at least once a week during the winter months. Thanks, everyone for keeping me from altering my carbine. The guys on the collector's forum told me the same thing, DON'T TOUCH IT! I appreciate your help. I'm now very proud of my acquisition. JDL, I wouldn't know the deluxe model from one that wasn't. What did they do differently? This one did have the white spacers and sling swivels. I honestly think the checkering was done by hand by somebody. It does have the raised cheekpiece (which I don't care for at all). I'll will probably refini...

I bought this 1960 vintage 336SC from the local gunshop Friday. Yesterday I cleaned the bore and mounted an old 3-9 Simmons on it. I grabbed some lead reloads I had and took it out to sight it in. After getting a rough zero with the lead, I went back to 100 yards and fired 4 or 5 groups with some 20...
