Re: A TALE OF TWO BULLETS
Scott, no pictures to share, but I think the main thing is to seat the bullet deep enough that the roll crimp doesn't damage the front band. I deep seat quite a bit in the .44 mag using 44 Special data and OAL's. There's generally plenty of space between the front band and the crimp going that route...

I've done some pretty good shooting off a rest, as well as some pretty bad. Prefer to just rest my forearms and not the gun, though if you've got a soft rest like a rolled up towel over a tool bag the gun doesn't seem to mind. I sorta favor the seated back rest position myself these days, keep a 2 1...

I was loaned a blued one for dove season back around '98, I took a liking to it. Light and handy, for an American gun anyhow. The first load I put together when I got my first 45 Colt revolver was a 255 SWC over 8.5 of Unique. I enjoy a little variety these days, sometimes I use 8.5 of either Universal or Power Pistol. They're all good. With the 225 RN ACP bullet I like 6.6-ish of W231, nice range load and not too spunky f...

The only thing I've ever shot in mine is the Oregon Trail 405 over 42 grains of 5744, sort of an energetic plinking load I guess. Recently I loaded up 20 rounds what was billed as a "good deer load" with the Hornady 300 gr. hollow point over 58 grains of 3031 from a late '80's/early '90's ...

The most accurate load I've found using CS brass in a Colt chamber is with Matt's Bullets version of the 240 Keith Auto Rim bullet over Universal, though a 230TC with 5.8 Unique isn't too bad either. Throats on both my Blackhawk and Redhawk have been reamed to .4525", the Blackhawk shot pattern...

Cowboy Special brass works fine in a Ruger ACP cylinder, though I trimmed mine back .010" just to be on the safe side with heavy bullets, a roll crimp and +P loads.
Have heard of folks getting the cylinder faced to headspace AR brass, but I don't have enough around to warrant it.

Are you gripping the piece with a "heel index" as with a single action (plowhandle) grip? For me, I find that a heel index doesn't work well with the Redhawk, too much inconsistency shot to shot. It's a large gun with the thrust/bore line high above the grip, more so than an N frame. I hav...
