Sounds like a good idea to me if you like marlins. I don't and can't even tell you why. I just like winchester actions better for some reason. But I might just have to go with a marlin if I can't find a good winchester action to begin the project with.

Get some starline brass in 32-20 it will last much longer then anyone else's. I shoot 115 grain lead in mine but can't remember the powder charge as I am working up loads and powders as time permits. With the lack of powder available one has to adapt to what you can get.

Sounds like you got a really good deal. I became a lifer 39 years ago and upgraded last year and will upgrade again next year. Total cost will be less then a few years ago they wanted to be a life menber. Things must be getting tight for them or the bills are getting big and they need cash now.

I have a miroku winchester model 92 in .357 and totally enjoy it. Ammo is more available and anyone who tells you that you don't have enough rifle just tell them after you get your deer if they are nice you might let them borrow it. Only thing the 480, 454 will do for you is slam the rifle butt more...

Biggest draw back I can see is the same as using 38 special rounds in a 357 mag or 44 special in a 44 mag. I only have 45-70 caliber so don't really know but it seems to be a logical issue.
