One way of telling is if there's ANY kind of bulge in the case body just above the rim, or sizing marks on the case body or neck. HTH

Come to think of it, my 1941 Win 70 would be perfect for a scout scope set-up IF only I could find one to fit! Holes drilled at the front of the receiver with a dovetail blank in the rear sight slot, 5 1/2" from middle of the dovetail to the rear screw with the screws 7/8" apart!

I can understand that given what the army's expiriences were with the 38 long colt in the Philipines! My only other load for the 358430 bullet had been 10gr 2400 in spl cases crimped in the forward lube groove. I just thought I'd do a light load that tumbles when it hits something like the old 380/2...

Ba10 works too. Tried 2.5gr with the 46gr JFN and it burned cleaner than the 2400 and Power Pistol.

Just tested ONE round of the 5.5gr 2400/46gr JFN load, sounded like a squib load! It did exit the barrel. Probably a case of too much powder for the priming. Nope, I bought the 22mag reloading kit and found out they also sell 22mag sizer and shell holder so got those also. Used a Lee universal case expander to flare the case mouth, don't take much to do that. THEN, using the same case expander with the larger plug, set it to seat the bullet to proper dep...

I do have some Power Pistol that I'm not using in anything else, so that might be a starter.
Likely play around with the 2400 loads loading 1 or two at a time for testing. Will likely hand weigh the 2400 loads. :)

I've stuck 38 supers in a Ruger Speed Six once. Could hit the target but the groups had opened up some, the bullets were 9mm out of a 357! :oops:

Well, I got a round to it! 4gr TB with 62gr bullet sounds like a 22 CB, 4.5gr TB sounds like a standard velocity, and 5gr sounds like a LR. And no, I didn't stick a bullet! I even tried a 58gr cast bullet, L#2 RCBS, with 4gr TB. Sounds like standard velocity also. BTW, I used an Aero Precision upper...

hodgdonreloading lists 4gr Trail Boss for 55gr FMJ in 223 and 6gr for 147gr in 300blk. I've gone as low as 5gr TB (so far) for the blk load with no problems. I'm wondering if anyone else tried TB with 62gr bullets, and if so, what was the load.

Never bought any, but have some 30/30 range pickup that's pretty good. Reloaded 2-3 times with 34.5gr 748 with 150gr FNSPs with no problems. HTH

Assuming a .223: I wouldn't use Trailboss, it has weirdly high pressures for low velocity. I use Unique or Universal and 7.5 grains with a 55 grain will get 2000 fps, and superlative accuracy. I would substitute the 62 grain on the same load no problem. Wasn't asking about Unique, though it is a go...

Hodgdon's only lists 55gr bullets with Trail Boss, anybody here ever try that powder with 62gr bullets? BTW, that's with jacketed bullets. 8)
