Re: I was feeding the dogs when I heard the sound of radial engines
The GM Wildcat was called the FM-2. Bigger engine and taller tail to handle the extra power. Most of the Wildcats flying these days are the FM-2 variety as one guy bought a bunch of them after the war for some reason or other.

Re: I was feeding the dogs when I heard the sound of radial engines
There is nothing like the sound of a radial except for a Rolls Royce/ Merlin V12! If you need a 'fix ' for aviation engines ya gotta go to Reno air races ! The LAST Reno air race was held last weekend and ended in a couple T-6s colliding and crashing after the LAST T-6 Gold race! The end of an era ...

From the size of the copper cup they shouldn't have been larger than 110 or 125gr. Maybe the size of Lee's 105gr SWC.

That's not one of the Speer bullets, at least not the 146gr HP or 160 SWC. Doesn't look like something Speer made. Might be home made. The Speer bullets had a copper cup that covered the entire bearing surface. Wish they still made the 160 SWC one!

Per the Lyman shotshell reloading handbook, I load 4 #00 buck in 2 1/2" Win HS hulls with 13.0gr A410 with CCI209 primers and 410 wads or 16.5gr H110 with Fed 209A primers. The Lyman book doesn't mention #000 buck, just #00 buck in 410. Never had a problem with my loads. HTH

Yup, 146gr HP and a 160 SWC! Wish they still made those! If I remember right, both of those were swaged bullets, like the .308 110HP varmint bullets that work great in 30 Carbine, and which they still make from time to time.
