I don't know if the front sights differ by caliber, but I have a 16" R92 in 357

the front sight is about .5" from the bottom of the dovetail to the top of the bead.

not counting the dovetail base, the post of the sight is about .35-.36 above it

you could also shoot it and see if the primers are backing out. I have an old winchester 1894 that had the barrel replaced 75 years ago, and rounds shot in it have slightly protruding primers. I don't shoot it that much though, so I'm not concerned.

I have three 94s that are DT'd

Both post 64s measure 3.855" from front end of receiver to middle of first screw hole - so similar to Walt's measurement.

However a 40's flat band measures 3.658"
