I thought about this yesterday but didn't put it in the post. go to Wal mart and buy a pair of their foam in soles. They do really make a difference in the boot fit, I have had to use two pair in some boots. Thanks, Jerry, that's definitely going to be my next move. More than one way to skin a cat!

Yes, there will be some small amount of air trapped in that line. Not desirable but almost impossible to avoid without bleeding under pressure. The good news is that air is compressible and will "equalize" to the pressure of the fluid, so the gauge will read accurately nevertheless.

Is your barrel a replacement or a shortened factory barrel? I think most of the recent Marlin factory 1895s are 1:20 twist, some may even be 1:22 but I am not sure. I am afraid it is going to be tough to stabilize a 500-grain bullet at subsonic muzzle velocity with a twist less than 1:18 or even 1:1...
