Re: .357 Max in a single shot, but wait...
I haven't done much load development (heck I haven't shot it since I moved to VA in 2006) but I have a 6.5" Blackhawk with a .357/44 B&D cylinder. When you look at .357 Max and .357/44 B&D on paper I don't see any reason to go with a Max unless you have the reamer or buy a factory barre...

Re: puma's, the rifle.
It's because they are changing the manufacturer of the rifle. EMF will still be selling the cheaper ones.

Ruger, especially now that they will have a good pocket revolver with the LCR, after the recalls are done of course!
They don't make a lever gun that I really like but if this rule came to pass I'm sure that would change.

Re: Is there only one serial number on the 357 1894 Marlins?
Yeah, it's kind of like the first generation of side saddles for shotguns (the things that hold 6 shots on the side of the receiver), they covered the s.n. but you could just take them off to see it. I think some of the newer models now have a slot so you can see the s.n. while they are in place.

Re: Is there only one serial number on the 357 1894 Marlins?
The hole totally covers that one digit. The owner remembers that it is a zero but there is no way to tell by looking at it. Of course since he isn't local I would also have to find a FFL to put it in their books and the two I talked to today both agreed they wouldn't feel comfortable doing so (I don...

Yeah, that is what I am afraid of. I guess I should let it go.mescalero1 wrote:My 1894 .44 Mag. only has it on the tang.
Some overzealous ATF dingus could probably try to make his bones on it,

Is there only one serial number on the 357 1894 Marlins?
I have come across a Marlin 1894 in .357 (not on this board) that has had the tang drilled for a sight, well they drilled through the second digit of the s.n. I don't have the rifle (or my 1894) handy, does the factory stamp a s.n. anywhere else on the rifle? Is this something that is a "don't ...

BTT, I won't bump it again but since the bandwidth of my photo page was exceded I have switched the photos to another page. I wanted to bump just in case someone couldn't see the photos the first time.

Re: OT Stolen Ruger No. 1 in PA (single shot lever?)
I want to thank everyone for keeping an eye out, this isn't a rifle that will be of much interest to most criminals (not to many drivebys or holdups with single shot rifles) so I assume they will try to move it. The local PD have entered it stolen NCIC so if the serial number is run by any law enfor...

OT Stolen Ruger No. 1 in PA (single shot lever?) Pics added
Moderators, if this should be in a different area please move it The Ruger No. 1 Schuetzen rifle I was selling was stolen while in care of UPS and if anyone comes across it I (and the buyer) would appreciate a "heads up." It has been entered NCIC as stolen firearm by the local PD, Swatara ...

Ya'll sure make a fellar feel at home, thanks to everyone for the warm welcome! I'll be sure to post picks as soon as I decide what to do. Re: Did SASS kill the Winchester model 94?
SNIP So, I don't blame SASS. SASS is the best thing to happen to lever action rifles and single action pistols in my lifetime, not to mention how much easier it has become to buy ammo for old guns. SNIP. I agree 100% with this. SASS had nothing to do with Winchester's demise and if it wasn't for SA...

Best 357 lever action
What are your experiences with 357 magnum lever action carbines and rifles? I am looking for something that is short, well built, accurate, easy to single feed, and is not very picky about case length; i.e. will feed 38 Special and 357 magnum length cases interchangeably. I know the last one is the ...
