Will, I have had a ball catching panfish on flies.
For a while, I followed the path of tenkara, Japanese fly fishing. It is an interesting variation and the way they make nets is charmingly traditional.

After looking at other recent abominations, I don't think this one is the worst of the lot -- and Aero Precision makes some pretty good AR parts. What I can't abide is the skeletonized "chassis" butt stock that would seem ready to catch on just about anything. Horrible choice for brush.

You can get a pretty serious quality Pedersoli 20-gauge Howdah for not much more money, which I am sure would be far better built. The one I had a dozen years ago was surprisingly accurate with a patched .595 310-grain round ball at 25-ish yards and not punishing. The 12 bore might be.
