Extended offers "support" and hand-holding if your order goes "agley" apparently. I've never had a Midway order go missing. And who needs insurance on bullets and brass? It's not like they will break in transit.

Dave, I also wish I had bought a mold from Rob Applegate. Seems he moved from Yoncalla to northeast Oregon -- Baker? La Grande? -- just before he quit making them. I met Col. Rex Applegate at a Lions Club gun show in Roseburg.

You've got an absolute dandy of a 94 by your description. Congratulations. Half-octagon half-round barrels and button magazines give me the shakes.

I've ordered a lot from Potterfield's outfit over the years -- probably enough to pay for a safari for him and from Amazon for Jeff Bezos too! But on a recent small order, they snuck in "Extended protection," for an extra $3.46. I didn't see it because I wasn't looking for it as it h...

Dave, I wasn't very happy with the last NOE mold I had either. Bullets just didn't want to drop. My go-to is Accurate Molds. They have never disappointed me. I know they are looked down upon by many in the casting community, but I have also had good luck with the inexpensive Lee molds. I do miss the...

Re: you [ and I ] need one of these: volcanic from Uberti
I never thought I would live to see the day that a serious manufacturer offered a Volcanic replica. The cool factor is off the charts. I hope Uberti will play around with chamberings a bit, though. I see the reasons for the .380 choice, but would much rather have one of the old rimmed numbers like ....

Wow, what a shock that must have been. I love an 1876, too, although I don't have one in the rack anymore. I hope that bullet comes out easily and that you don't have a ring. If you do, it's either rebarrel or reline, although an occasional ringed barrel has been known to shoot better than it should.

Music to ponder as Easter approaches
One of the very earliest hymns, derived in part from Luke 1:46-55. It was not a part of my mainline Protestant upbringing that I can recall, but it is beautiful, and here, rendered in Aramaic, the language of the Nazarene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lkovRd99Hs&list=RD-lkovRd99Hs&start_r...

Osceola had a number of visitors during his last months in prison. One of them was the artist George Catlin, who among things preserved images of American Indians as well as documenting actors in the Fur Trade. So I was listening to an old favorite last night, John Anderson's classic "Seminole Wind," and got to pondering on how very little I know about the three wars the federal government waged against the Seminole people of Florida, from 1816 to 1858. The central figure of the Second Seminole W...
