Can anybody recommend a good scout scope for use on a Marlin 1894 in 357, and what kind of base to use as well?

Re: Rimfire levergun w/ side loading gate?
First, Welcome to the Forum
Second, Doesn't Browning make a 22 with the loading port in the stock?
While its technically not a "loading gate," the shells do get fed into it.
Just my 2 cents

Thanks for the memories Rusty. A lot of them fellas were past their prime when I was growing up but I watched them in reruns and STILL enjoy watching them today (I'm 55) Who ever did that video did a HELL of a job with the graphics, and its too bad more Cowboys couldn't have been added. Re: Did SASS kill the Winchester model 94?
Joe/Bruce Wouldn't it just be safer to not keep a live round in the chamber like in a single action pistol? It seems kind of odd that the hammer would be in the half cock position, instead of being in the fully down position. I guess I will have to do more research on the subject, but thanks for the...

Re: Which first lever action?
30-30 Trappers come with hen's teeth these days - I have seen one in the last 10 years and the gun shop owner's son kept that one.
Old Savage- Can you clarify just what does "comes with hen's teeth these days" mean?

Looking for Northern Ohio Gunsmiths
Can anyone suggest any good lever action gunsmiths in the Cleveland/Northern Ohio area?
I have a Marlin 39A and 1894 cowboy 357 that I would like to have some work done.

tomclink,
Just went to the Forstner web site and their COAX press does appear to be very well made. I have not seen such detailed information on the press itself from any other manufacturers web site.
Thanks for the tip

Re: Reloading Equipment
I appreciate all of the advice everyone has given me. I think that I WILL start with a single stage press and thoroughly learn how to reload that way, then go to a progressive. I know RCBS's Rockchucker is upgradeable to a turret press, and so are a few others. Once again, many thanks to all :) Uncl...

Re: Reloading Equipment
Reliable to me means that the equipment is rugged and well made and has a low percentage of "breaking down." I realize that a single stage reloader is simpler to use then a turret press, and would have less moving parts to "break," but I would like to not have to keep changing fr...

Reloading Equipment
I don't know if this topic has been addressed in the past but being a new member I could use some advice. Can anyone recommend some good, RELIABLE, loading equipment from experience? It would be used primarily for pistol cartridges, but maybe 233/308 as well. I would be interested in a progressive m...

Re: OT - Civil War Movie picks...
An excellent one volume book written on the War Between the States would be "A Short History of the Civil War", by Fletcher Pratt. If memory serves me correct it was written about 1948-49, and I remember reading it as a kid in the 1960's. I don't know if it is still in print but if you go ...

Re: 1892 Receiver Strength vs 1894
Unfortunately I do not reload my own ammunition, but nevertheless if I did, I would not exceed recommended loading pressures. My original inquiry as to the strengths of each respective action was to satisfy my curiosity since I am a relatively new owner of of a Marlin 1894 in 357 calibre, and have j...

Re: 1892 Receiver Strength vs 1894
So, is that why the marlin 1894 can only handle pistol loads due to the lower operating pressure, or do I have it wrong?
