The leather lace on things ruin the stock finish in no time.
My stocks aren't ruined, or even smudged. The lace-on also allows me to slip a kickeez recoil insert between the butt plate and the lace-on; super comfortable to shoot through the summer.

azmark, I actually had a EAA Bounty Hunter in .357, about 7 years ago; they're made in West Germany. It was actually a piece of junk clothed in SAA- looking metal. I remember the handgun fondly, as I could not shoot less than 6" groups with it at 50'. I rationalized carrying it when I went fish...

DennisD, Don't drill it- you'll regret it forever; you can use a lace-on sling/pad. There's two threads on this forum that I know of within the last couple months with a bunch of alternatives, including the levergunleather mentioned above. If they're hard to find, you can search on author "1x2&...

This is an excellent thread. I'd been cogitating over whether to buy a Henry. But I can't get over the brass receiver, the weight, the fact that the barrel and mag tube are not cast as a single piece, the existence of the forearm, the weight (I understand the originals were over 9 lbs.). ursavus.ele...

No negative. One of the advantages of shooting .44mag and .357mag is to have a load that you can shoot out of your revolver and your lever gun. I develop the best load for my revolver and then shoot it out of both. Not using .38 and .44 special cartridges obviates the worry about developing the lead...

Don,

I'm unclear regarding the handgun requirement- the regs are silent on that issue- I read that the cartridge needs to "generally" generate the impact that you posted at that yardage. Where's the handgun part come in?
