That looks like a Millett rear sight, very high quality. It's supposed to be paired with a new front sight, which, on the model 59, IIRC, is staked in place. Staking a front sight was probably beyond tge skills of the previous owner.

Also, since youve already done the stripdown and cleaning, maybe a complete spring replacement is in order. Magazine spring could be weak, as could the ejector spring ( I know, on new guns the ejector spring is usually hell-for-stout and benefits from reduction.).

I shoot a .452 300-LFNGC over 24 gr of H110 through my 24" Rossi half round, half octagon with a Marbles peep sight, and it keeps five shots inside a 3" shoot-n-see.

When I was certified as a range officer, the range I worked for picked up the tab. The NRA RO course was great, it reinforced a lot of the safety rules I already knew, and it really brings up your 'situational awareness' factor. Especially at a public range, you really have to be aware of everything...

I have a half-round, half-octagon Rossi 24" rifle in .45 Colt...been seriously thinking about doing a button mag and having a front sight dovetailed onto the barrel. Maybe a Beech sight coupled with a folding semi-buckhorn and a nice tang peep.

+1 on what Hobie said. 23 gr of H110 and a 300-grain cast bullet (I use a 300 GR LFNGC from Cast Bullet Performance Co). I shoot this through a 92 Carbine and a 92 24" rifle.
