That's one reason I actually kind of like the places in the midwest that have rules allowing 'straight walled pistol cartridges' for whitetail, since the short fat bullets do a nice job on deer out to reasonable midwestern ranges of 150 yards or so, but fall out of the sky rapidly after that.
