Sorry, but I just think parkerizing and black stocks go together, and neither goes well with a levergun. IMHO. Although it would make sense to 'proof' your overall design, and not inventory two sets of receivers (due to extra cost and risk of mixing them up), it is possible the cost savings would be enough to make up for the extra labor and possible the manufacturer would develop ways to mark/track them, so ...

I believe you can ALSO still get the "accellerator" rounds for the .30-06, which are saboted .223 bullets - probably 55 grain. Muzzle velocity around 4,000 fps. So, he really might not need a new gun, if his has a decent scope! .223's are nice, and used to be cheap surplus/contract ammo. M...

A low mounted scope on 1X is about as fast on target as you can get. Wouldn't it be nice to have one about the compactness of those red-dot ones, but that would zoom up to 10x when you wanted it to! Maybe even the crosshair part stays put, and you slip on the 10x part if you have time for a rested ...

I have lots of high see-through rings, because In bright light I like peeps, but if I have the time for a precise shot, or the light is poor, I like a scope. I haven't gone on a 'critical' enough hunt to need backup irons, and if I did, I'd likely just use a quick detatch scope, since if it's broke ...

Maybe try compressed air or even WD-40 to the firing pin hole; if there is junk in there it would mess it up. If that fixes it temporarily, I'd remove the firing pin(s) to clean the passage thoroughly.

If you can persuade Ruger to do a No. 1 in .444 Marlin (heck, they do them in .45-70!), THAT would be the coolest; you could run pressures up into the stratosphere, use evil long, pointy bullets (think 400-500 grain in a .430 diameter), and it would sit right up there between the .416 Rigby and .458...

The only thing I can complain about is that the stainless finish was good enough that any scratches really show up, and it has gotten a few; in a way, that is a compliment. Consider bead-blasting it.
