Awhile back, someone here did a similar thing using brass (for a stainless gun), but I've lost the link. The lead seems a good idea for a blued or browned gun, though.

I have one of each, but haven't shot either enough to comment. Both were used guns, but both function reliably with factory ammunition, and both seem plenty accurate.
