86er, your looking at the patent date on that Bear, a common mistake I see all the time. Serial No. dates that bow to 1969. Both bows seem in great condition, and that Herters is rarely seen these days.

I've had good sucess using the DMT Diamond hones, I keep a bench model at the house and one of the small fold up types in my truck. Remember its all in the angles and being consistant.
