Re: Question on Unerti model '73 short rifle
Some semi-custom models may have a large bead for the CAS game but most come with a blade. Short rifle has the same stock as the rifle and the rear sight is pretty much the same. The only difference is the barrel is 20" instead of 24" on the full length rifle.

Most of the problem I see is that the springs are very rough. It takes only very small roughness or irregularities to cause stress risers which are bad ju-ju for springs. It is possible that if one takes the factory spring and polished out those irregularities, the life of the spring would improve b...

I didn't mean that it was mandatory or that it happened at check stations only. If you really are concerned and want to be totally safe, you have to wait for the test ...

Nope, no way to tell. Most states with it have programs where you send in a sample after the kill and it is tested before consumption. Still no evidence that people can be affected but it does bring back memories of the problems in the UK with mad cow disease.

Leadheads has a choice of 235,250, and 270. All look like they should work. Ain't cheap but they are gas checked for any velocity you want. The 235 should solve your problem.

348, 45-70 AND 40-90BN, now we're talking. More than anything it depends on who makes the shell holders. The Lee holders are a little more sloppy and the 45-70 will work for the others but the 348 has no slack to spare. I use 45-2.6 for forming the 40-90SBN so there is no difference from the 45-70. ...
