Got a call from dear ol' Mom....clear out the bullets I found in the metal fishing box. I told her I knew Dad hide them and was glad she found them but she still wants them gone. The last set I refinished was from an SLR (L1A1). It took lots of elbow grease, and iron, upto 500 grit paper, and above all patience.
I also removed numerious dents as well as fixing cracks....I'll post pics if folks want to see an military rifle.

My bad, rifle is a 26" barrel....I keep thinking its a 28. I asked because I'm taking it elk hunting at around 6500-7000 ft and the internet ballistic charts show a wide variation in bullet drop with the same weight and BCE; either I'm teading them wrong or alltitude really effects things and I...

Has anyone tested the ballistics of a 45-70 out of a 28" barrel? I'm befuddled why manufactureres use 24" barrels other than its the standard lengh

If I recall correctly mine has the barrel band and the barrel is about 16" measured with a tape from the receiver forward.

Enlighten me about the short rifle.
I have my great grand fathers. Family lore says it was cut down but the barrel shows no signs of cutting and the Letter from the Winchester museum doesn't discuss barrel leangh.

A GS in NC had one for $1500, made around 1890. They were way out of line....barrel was so rusted instide you could barely see light. The exterior was about 40% finish.

I can remeber many times growing up in the NW where Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner was cooked on the wood stove becuase the power has been out for a week. To add insult to injury, my mother still lives out too far for Cable TV or Netflix.

Burris is a great scope. Had the 3x9x40 on a .338 win mag. I've also owned Swarovski and Schmidt & Bender. IMHO, I would buy a Swarovski before the others...S&B are unreal in clarity and very heavy where as Sworvski and Burris are close in weight for a comparible model but in my experience t...
