Re: OT - Best Holster - 1860 Army
I purchased a really nice leather holster for a great price from RUGER, and cut the bottom out of it . Now all of my ball and cap revolvers as well as the good old .44 mag fit great. The holster was designed for a single action revolver and the 1860 army fits close enough. That would be for open top...

Re: What scope on which rifle?
I gave up on putting scopes on my good ol, Guide Gun. I blew out 2 scopes,(3 x 9's). Now I just use the XSights Ghost Ring sights. At 100 yards I can hit targets the size of your fist. Thats good enough for me. But do believe the (1 x ?) would be the best to use because of the recoil.

I don't think a large cal rifle will stop an animal like a grizzly on a charge unless you shoot him in the head or spine. So will a .44 mag stop a large animal like a moose or grizzly? I think that it all comes down to shot placement, and type of ammo. If Garrett's .44 mag hardcast (310 grain) can d...

I have decided that since it was in the backstrap, I am only keeping the hinds and the shoulders, the rest I am going to throw away. I have three deer already in the freezer and plan to get a couple more so no reason to take any chances. I know one thing, it is some pretty awful looking stuff.

I use to always take a 30-30 and a .357 mag but now a days I take an 1895G and a .44 cal ball and cap revolver. It's give me an excuse to empty the .44 into a tree before coming home. I get to then reload it before putting it in the safe for the next trip.
