Re: Blued steel and walnut
Would you believe that I’ve never actually had a broom handle Mauser in my hands? It's an unusual pistol for sure. I've had several over the years, but this one would be difficult to upgrade. It's all matching in near perfect condition with Finn proof marks. The holster is a British style reproduct...

Those crazy little buggers. I'm always cleaning up after them around our cabin and will knock off one or two every summer. I remember one trip up there, probably twenty years ago that I bagged a dozen of the little stinkers in one weekend. They can get pretty destructive in those kind of numbers. We...

I'm within ya there, Jay. Always thought the Tigers were wicked cool, especially as a kid. There's a great line from a WWII vet in one of Steven Ambrose' books. The Americans had stopped on a road, figuring out which way to go, when a young German boy walked up to the crew and said " Our tanks ...

I blew it yesterday. Went to a show about an hour and half away. With bullets similar to JimT's, my favorite load has been 4.8 grains of Bullseye. Potent enough for trail gun use, accurate and not abusive. When I was competing in IDPA, I found that 3.8 grains were reliable enough in my Colts to cycle the pistols reliably and accuracy was more that good enough for...

Thanks Doug! It's a huge weight off, for sure.
I looked at the RIAs and Girsans, nice pistols, and if I was just starting out with the 10mm, I think they would be a great option.
Not sure what I want now.
There's a good show coming up this weekend, I'll see if anything jumps out at me.

Locked the action up tight on the 5th round. Had to tap the cylinder out with a small mallet. I'm not even sure how it got bound up so tight, possibly from the moon clip. There's no doubt that the 10mm is a powerful round and can be hard on 1911s, but it also depends on how you're loading it just like any other cartridge. Factory ammo can be really hot and one of the reasons I won't buy S&B again. I've had their 10mm damage a S&W 610 and when my dad borrowed ...

That's a bummer, Jay.
We're pretty lucky around here, several good shows along with the Ohio Gun Collector's association and the Maumee Valley GCA. Though the the Maumee show isn't doing well. Seems to get smaller every year. I think they need to put some more effort into promoting it.

Most of the .308 Enfields will be marked GRI from the factory in India. The shape of the magazine will be different too.
Some pictures would help if possible.

Jason, I believe the problem lies in the low velocities at which you're shooting. Your 1:38" twist is simply not stabilizing your bullets. Even from a rifle your cast bullets are probably doing less than 1200 fps and the jacketed bullets are going even slower. The idea behind the long twist wa...
