The one for Me that "got away" about ten years ago was a Savage model 24 . Like new in the box .357 mag over 20 ga. It would have been the perfect deer/plinker here in Ohio. It is the only one I ever saw, I blinked and it was gone. Durn. .

Fifty years ago I had a black lab. I got called away to help a Guy so I put Him in the garage instead of walking back to His run. was back in about 30 minuet's. He showed Me by chewing up a bunch of My fishing rods . never did that again. .

I have looked at a few in the last six months. way better fit and finish, worked the lever as well and seemed pretty smooth. The local farm store has them for around $700.00, sometimes with a $75.00 of coupon.

I Like it....Great sights, big lever loop, sling swivel mounts, torx screw heads . You can easily mount all kind of fancy lights on it. for an all weather gun it's a winner. when the dust settles I bet it's $999.00. wish it was made in .357 mag too.

I don't think remlin ever made a cowboy model. . For target work that gun will really shoot with the receiver sight. for hunting I would only change the front sight. I have five rifles with receiver sights on them . for Me nothing works better. Good snag. .
