It was built in 1941 and by the time it was retired in 1961 had logged over 1 million miles. 25 were built in the 40's only 8 remain, the 4014 is the only one restored and running . It's coming back across the country in July and I hope to see it again. The drive wheels are 68" tall. Every town...

More prayers Up for Your complete Recovery. other than a car the only thing I want to go fast on is my lawnmower. I can't believe how long it takes to recover when I get hurt. I wish I was 69 again.

Bill, I'm wondering that with all the advancement in computers and cnc machine technology they can spit these simple bolt actions out pretty cheap. maybe the Glenfield Levers are next.

So.....I got on the Holland & Holland website. This Fine Rifle fit's in their serial numbers. And I bet If You had the $$$ it could be sent back for a cleaning and inspection. Try that with most other Firearms from 1903..........Just a lottery ticket Away............................................

I have never owned any gun that nice, but if it were Mine I would keep it in a gun sock when not in use , and have a thick pad to put it on the shooting bench. it drives me nuts when I see an otherwise A+ gun for sale and see a bunch of "safe dings" all over it.

In My Life of looking at pic's of High End Firearms I have never seen a SxS with the top tang extending down the grip and up on top of the comb.......Just for looks? OR to strengthen the weakest part of the Stock...

Sorry I missed it Jim, but Happy Birthday! We were on our way back from Alabama yesterday and I found out that the traffic around Nashville and Louisville is about the end of My long distance driving . How these people can drive 80- 100 mph is way beyond Me. Part of Getting Old I guess.

If I had it I wouldn't touch that barrel. I bet it shoots Great. I have a Marlin 45-70 with the 22" barrel I bought in '09 . the last time I fired it with the Federal blue box 300 grain loads it was dead on at 75 yards. I have a williams receiver sight on it.
