I had similar problems when I started using the aluminum NOE molds. After a few test runs I now pre-heat those molds on a hot plate with a large coffee can that I cut out that acts like a lid. A few months ago a gun shop near by did have a Henry Long Ranger in 308. It was quite nice and well made but I was surprised how heavy it felt. I would say more then a Browning BLR. I still wouldn't mind having one in 243 Winchester but I wouldn't want to lug it around too far.

Ha! I was thinking the same way :lol: I ended up putting on layaway a Ruger M77 MKII in 7.62X39 that I was eyeing on for some time. Hopefully at the end of the month I can finish paying it off. Torn between the 358 Winchester or 30-06. From mice to bears, proven track record, a buffet of cast and jacketed bullets to choose from and most importantly off the shelf ammo, the 06 gets the nod..... but not by much. It would be blued with a nice looking walnut stock.

You can get a Zastava (same as the Remington 799) in 7.62x39 in a walnut stock . And you could rebarrel to a Grendel if you were so inclined . I've also read the same with the CZ 527. There are after market barrels for them but I hear taking the barrels off the CZ action is a pain in the &%#^! ...

No problem! :) I did have the reboring job done by JES who is in your neck of the woods. I have a Savage 219B 30-30 that I'm debating between a 30-30AI or another 35/30. Another note if you have it done by JES he can have it done in any twist rate you want.

The ones I've seen and handled the butt stock and especially the fore hand stock is beefier. The checkering on the fore hand practically covers the entire stock. I do recall last year a guy at our gun range did the same thing, re-barreled his 788 to 300 BLK. He bought his barrel on GB used that came off of a 700 action. Came out great!

Question: Is there an advantage to this over a regular 35 Rem? Longer neck compared to the 35 Rem. Nice for cast bullets. Power level is the same even though the 35 Rem has a tad more volume. Also plenty of brass to choose from to convert. Don't have to worry about "seasonal" run on brass...

Just making sure that Lee Pot isn't 220V? Also how did you hook up the pot to the controller? If your using the rheostat on the Lee pot you need to try dialing to max, let the PID do the work or disconnect it from the circuit and hook it directly to the SSR.

Back in the day I tried the 180 gr. Hornady XTP in my 35 Remington. Turned one coyote inside out past 150 yards, never took a step. Don't have the 35 Remington anymore but I wouldn't mind trying them in my 35/30-30 or Savage 99 358 Win.
