Thank you one and all. We had a great afternoon in Luckenbach, then went into Fredericksburg and visited Cimarron Arms. Afterward we ended with a great meal at Martini's Seafood. I recommend it if you are in Fredericksburg.

I had a hard time this morning.
I was in Wal-Mart and had to use the restroom. There was a sign in the restroom that said in bold letters EMPLOYEES MUST WASH HANDS. I waited for maybe 20 minutes and no employees ever came and washed my hands!

He has "seen the elephant" and I don't discount that. He knows gunfighting and I do not doubt it works at those distances. But for hunting and long range shooting with handguns, you don't tilt them. Try adjusting the sights whether scope, peep sights or open sights .. with the gun tilted. ...

Re: Blew my Uberti 1876 up
This is interesting. Correct me if I am wrong, but the cracked for end stock looks to me like gas was vented, but if there's no ruptured barrel, and no ruptured case, can the gas be redirected somehow, in the toggle link lock up. Could it somehow vent around the outside of the case, and end up in b...

Re: Blew my Uberti 1876 up
Sorry to hear that. It can be rebarreled. Once you get the bullet out, clean the bore and then shoot some of your regular ammo, testing the accuracy. It may surprise you. And more than likely the second shot pushed the stopped bullet out of the barrel and that was the slow velocity reading. I would ...

Wow, what a shock that must have been. I love an 1876, too, although I don't have one in the rack anymore. I hope that bullet comes out easily and that you don't have a ring. If the barrel is not bulged and if it did not rupture any place .... and if the magazine is not damaged .. the forend had to break because it was cracked in my opinion. Re: Blew my Uberti 1876 up
The bullet is lodged 12 inches from the muzzle or the breech?
Is the barrel bulged anyplace?
EDIT: This is an 1886 made in 1903 that blew because of metal fatigue. It was fired for years with smokeless loads but the metal was not designed for smokeless loads.

I played with the Accelerators in .30-30. The little .22 bullet worked wonders on Javelina. I helped clean one that was shot at about a hundred yards. Dropped it right there and the insides were a mess! The 06 load was quite a bit faster. I still have a full box of .30-30 and a partial box.

The Officer's ACP
Back in the late 1980's I carried a Colt .45ACP Officers Model for a year or so. I shot it a lot and practiced a lot with it. One of the things I practiced was how to get it into action when the chamber wasn't loaded. (Condition 3) I know that Condition 3 is frowned upon by most, but I figured I cou...

Nice work. I had an old model 357 that I shot until it was loose. The bolt had battered against the frame from years of cocking really fast, and it got wobbly on the screw and messed up the lockup.
