HANDLOADING .22 LONG RIFLE AMMO

Awhile back a friend sent me a bunch of primed .22 Long Rifle cases. When I got home from The Shootists Holiday I found another friend had sent me some 40 gr. cast gascheck bullets. Seating and crimping onto the gascheck step approximates the heel on a .22 Long Rifle bullet. IMG_2297.JPG I decided t...

Well, the old man fired a lot more than that through it. The 300,000 number was when he was keeping track of his competition and practice ammo. Cool story Jim.

What did your dad like for a load/loads for his 686?

Cat
Probably 90% or 95% of what he shot was a 158 gr. cast round nose bullet over 3 gr. of Bullseye. The only times I remember him shooting magnums was hunting.

Thankfully even in the US there are still places where you go back in time 100 or more years, even today.
Not many people visit these places which in some ways, is good. They remain remote, isolated and intact.
They are not places for the weak or the faint of heart.
