LUBRICATING JACKETED BULLETS

All bullets need lubrication, some more than others. I know it is commonly taken that jacketed bullets do not need lube. If that were the case however we would not use oil in the bearings on our cars. Fire a few thousand jacketed bullets through your barrel and watch it turn copper-colored in the ri...

Ian's accident involved a original style spring loaded follower. New Henrys are no problem as long as you don't free-fall cartridges down a vertical tube. The only issue I see is if the follower is dropped it can set off the cartridges in the magazine tube. Ian on Forgotten Weapons had one such experience and was injured .. though not seriously ... by it.

The only reliable way to tell pressures is have the loads tested in a pressure barrel. I have seen more than one gun blown and the primers look normal, even on what was left of the cartridge that blew. While it is certainly not something I am interested in, these days I hate to "pooh pooh" anyone who is venturing into the firearms field with something new. And if marketed, it will attract some. Whether that's enough to make it viable or not will remain to be seen.
